Why Communications and Engagement are Critical in Today's Energy and Environmental Landscape
Join Ruder Finn for a communications 101 session which will highlight how a proactive, and strategic communications and engagement strategy can help lead to mission success. Ruder Finn will discuss proactive communications, crisis mitigation and response tactics, and battle tested stakeholder engagement strategies.
The session will be presented by Ruder Finn’s Group Vice President of Energy and Public Affairs, Patrick Hefflinger.
Patrick will be joined by OREM and PPPO Site Manager Erik Olds who will discuss what he is seeing in the energy landscape and how he believes communications and engagement can pave the way for multifaceted success.
Erik and Patrick will share tips, tricks, and lessons learned.
Erik Olds is the current site manager for Oak Ridge Office of Environmental Management and the Portsmouth Paducah Project Office. Prior to joining OREM, Erik was the communications director for EM HQ and acting EM Chief of Staff. Prior to his time at HQ, Erik held various high-level positions at both the Richland Operations Office and Office of River Protection at Hanford, he also worked in public affairs at the Yucca Mountain Project in Nevada.
Patrick Hefflinger spent nearly a decade within DOE’s Office of Environmental Management both on the contractor and Fed side managing the legislative affairs portfolio for the program office and leading external affairs for EM’s New Mexico sites and a number of small sites. He developed and implemented a first of its kind statewide engagement strategy that led to enhanced mission success and served as a road map for both NNSA and other EM sites.
